Cost: My Bitmain Antminer APW3++ PSU came with my D3, but you can buy them on Amazon here. This is currently the only PSU offered by Antminer.
Packaging: If you order a miner, your APW3++ might ship separately from your miner. The packaging is pretty nice. It had nice foam cutouts that secured the PSU in its place and plastic wrap to protect it from any light water damage.
Quality: The make of the unit actually seems to be pretty good quality, especially for being a “generic” Chinese server PSU. It’s pretty sturdy and compact. I haven’t heard many reports with many issues with the actual power supply.
Build: This is the 10 PCIE plug model, which works for the D3. It comes with two four plugs, and two one plugs, totalling ten plugs from the PSU. Getting these on to the board is a little tight. Personally, I’d like to see them separated out, but it does keep it pretty neat, giving it better wire management. It’s just a little harder to reach the miner.
The plug is a C-13. If you don’t know much about power cables, that is just the standard, universal computer plugin. That’s a good thing. It makes it very easy to find power cables. This is the one I get for connecting to a PDU, and this one for connecting to a wall outlet.
Efficiency: It’s rated with Platinum efficiency, but you always have to take things like that with a grain of salt.
Fan: There is one exhaust fan on the back of the APW3++. An ideal way to set it up with the D3 is to match the setup of the miner with the PSU so the exhaust fans are facing the same way.
Noise: The power supply isn’t noticeable loud. Quite honestly, in our mining setup, we could barely even hear the PSU, especially over the D3. The D3 is not a quiet miner.
Overall Review: So all and all, there’s not much to it. The Bitmain Antminer APW3++ PSU works, is good, it’s efficient, relatively cost-effective, and not very loud. You could order one from Bitmain, but they might be a couple months out, so I would recommend getting one from Amazon.
